Really would've walked best earlier this rundown characterless restaurant nonetheless it came recommended :) Excellent local kolo mee! I'm nevertheless a bigger enthusiast of what I was raised with (with black sauce) but this works a close second.

This typical Kuching restaurant is quite unique since it offers many types of popular and sought-after dishes such as for example bee hoon belacan, cendul, chicken rice, rojak, kangkung belacan and cucur udang. This store retains in its title the Rex Cinema that was a cinemauntil the 80s. A stall promoting the favorite cucur udang managed its company behind the cinema. I acquired often visited the stall before cinema had been demolished and changed with a purchasing complex. What occurred to the stall has been unknown. The existing shop is known as as Aged Rex Cafe and Aged Rex Cucur Udang Cafe. It is extremely favored by customers filling the store usually. It is great to use a few of the dishes for sale here.

Aged Rex cucur udang is well known in the past because of its cucur udang (prawn fritters) needless to say. It has historial tale behind it and that it obtained its name from the times where cucur udang has been sold at the Aged Rex Theatre. In this cafe, there's a vintage black & white poster photograph of the Old Rex Theatre. Addititionally there is photo of the initial retailers of the cucur udang but still proceeds on today. Area has moved from Aged Rex to its present location at Rubber Street. Besides their well-identified cucur udang (that is crispy and has the hint of flavour of prawn in the cucur, unlike other cucur that is only flour and water), you can find other assortments of meals like nice potato, fishball, yam, beancurd and more. Simply take your pick and it'll be serious fried & served for you on your own table. Though it really is deep fried foods, it isn't oily or greasy. Each product that is heavy fried will be crispy and revel in it with the chilli sauce & grounded peanut. Today Rex Cafe also offers belacan beehoon, poultry rice, laksa and sotong kangkung (squid & drinking water spinach) added into selection of food to consume there. There are needless to say drinks served, among which in the menus includes their shaved ice beverages (i.electronic: ice kacang or crimson bean inside shaved ice, White Woman, Matterhorn, etc etc) It is like any coffeeshop around but that one has historical story at the rear of its food.

The comfort foods of Kuchingnites. Getting this finger meals and rojak and one glass of ice kacang. It really is normally very whole during the weekend however the food is okay only, not necessarily too great, but I assume it's the sentiments of the peoplethat helps it be wonderful
