Nonyas (or even the Peranakan) were the ladies who have been born to Straits ( some Malayan claims) Chinese who took Malay wives back the 19th Century. Because they became prosperous, created English speaking abilities, educated their kids in English methods, they create a cuisine thatis an amalgam of Chinese, Malay and English meals, constantly maintaining their life-style as a hybrid in Malaysian modern society. Their dress was an assortment of Malay baju and Chinese and continues to be to this day extremely revered in Malaysia. Today the problem is hardly any restaurants nevertheless do these authentic meals. So when you discover one you have a tendency to maintain it to yourself. But this location is this type of hoot you must create the trek about 20 mins outside KL centre. A few cousins from Melaka (among the houses of Nonya tradition) set this eating place up as a vacation back in its history. The wall space are covered with movie pix of bygone superstars from the 1930's to 1970's and several antique products all reflecting that Nonya period. The crazy proprietor will get up between support and sings anything from Shanghai 1930's melodies to those excellent kitsch songs from 1950's and 1960's pop USA. The meals is really genuine. Mum's taufu dish, poultry wings in coffee!! (wonderful), butterfish in butter sauce, stinky beans with clean prawns and sambal, fern frond vegetables, etc, etc. In case you are at all thinking about seeing authentic Malaysian lifestyle and foods this is actually the place. Call the dog owner Desmond and you may find he will let you know what's fresh from the marketplace that day. The vacation is a tiny hike and you require a taxi driver who understand the location, but really worth it. Getting back again is simple. Desmond will arrange a taxi.

Pretty nostalgic decor of 1960s, 1970s Chinese singers' photos and bird cages. Good food. Owners furthermore belt out older Mandarin tracks as you take in. Interesting.

I was extremely love the area. It was sophisticated. The decoration had been decidedly retro with a variety of images and antiques, including conventional birdcages. It create the peaceful atmosphere. The meal was tasty with Malaysia cuisine and beautiful presented. and the dessert has been good possibly. The staff was polite and friendly. the purchase price, maybe, was a bit expensive however in order to truly have a good supper. It's really worthy.
