A big thumbs up to their ox tongue rice bowl and light braised beef short-ribs & radish with rice. Good environment & friendly staff. Have an amazing lunch at here.

Updated review since I've just visited recently. This is my 3rd time dining at this place - 1st was pleasant, owner was around. No funny people doing funny things. Hence, 4 stars.2nd time was horrible - about 2 months back I visited, the place was packed. We were ignored all the time, the wait for food was up to 45 minutes, everybody just ignored every time we signalled for somebody even though the waiter was just standing there doing nothing. If he has time to day dream when the place is packed, I see no reason for him to ignore us. I was angry and did not want to return.3rd visit (today). I gave them another chance since it may be because it's packed. Today it was empty - probably just another table or so. Everything was smooth UNTIL the payment. I paid with my 1st card with Wave - the machine prompted some odd error, like some programming error. Tested with the same card using Pin - the same error appeared. He tested again with wave and still the same error. This guy asked for another card - I said okay, so I passed him 2nd card. Tested with Wave and the machine timed out. Tested with pin again - 2x, stuck at request for a very long time and timed out. I asked him to restart the machine his answer was "no cannot". He couldn't even be bothered to check if there's anything wrong with the machine / restart / attempt to find out what is wrong with the machine. He immediately accused me of my cards. Fine. I waited for another couple of minutes to see if works again.Round 2 payment - The very rude guy was busy so it was taken over by the malay lady with specs. She tried on my card - the same stuck at request and timeout happened again for 3 times. This would mean that both my cards were tapped for at least 7 times now. Transaction did not go through at all - therefore there is no Approve / Reject. She immediately accused me of my cards. She then told me to go to the ATM to get cash. I asked her what if none of us has an ATM card? She proceeded to say that the machine took payment for the whole day and it has no issues. So what is she indicating? Me again? Double whammy! Friend who has the same card said to let her try. Just one swipe and it got through. The Malay lady proceeded to continue accusing my card and humiliating me in front, which I see no reason for her to do so.So here I am, confused, I had to call my bank to check what happened. Bank staff said my card is working perfectly fine, I definitely have the quota to take the amount (it's only RM100 ish). I just wanted to find out if this is some sort of scam - taking my card details and payment did not go through? Or are they trying to swipe 7-8 times so I get billed for that amount of times? Bank staff said there was no transaction AT ALL, not even appearing in the statement that my card had been used. They have no record at all of the "failure". This means it's their card machine that is giving problems - certainly not my card. Thanks for accusing me, 3 times and I think it's safe to say I will never go back.As for the food - we had Salmon, Ox Tongue, Green Tea Creme Brulee & Fried Cempedak - beef was low grade ones hence it's not too expensive, salmon was quite pathetic, just 4 small cubes and a huge egg to cover the empty rice bowl. Creme brulee was alright, sesame ice cream was nice. Cempedak size is as big as your pinky finger - 5 pieces and served with the lowest grade vanilla ice cream (barely any real vanilla flavour, just articifial). Well for the price they charge it's understandable that they give the lowest grade of everthing - profit comes first.Anyhow - becareful of this place and their credit card machine, you will never know these people try to be hanky panky to steal your credit card details. Hence, the failure. You will never know.

My ultimate fav place that I know it would never go wrong with the taste and also a comfort food diner. They have new menu with more extensive choices yay. There’s set lunch during lunch time but I still go back to the ox tongue rice with mirin sauce and an onsen egg on top of it. Just perfect. Might not be the cheapest lunch meal but it satisfies you in every direction. The meal is rm36 for the bowl of ox tongue rice (21) + ox tongue (11) + onsen egg (3.50) without chilli so no discount on no chilli. Don’t worry this is just one off extravagance lunch splurge and I had salad for dinner. Still over budget for the day meal. Ops. Service:3/5Food:5/5Price:3.5/5

Favorite jap fusion restaurant for comfort food ☺️ I always go for the torched salmon rice bowl. Also try the lemongrass popcorn chicken for a food crunch!
