We have been frequenting Kak Nik's humble bistro and every time come away with a wonderfully full belly, satiated with her signature spicy 'patin tempoyak' ('patin' fish cooked in a fermented durian gravy). This isn't for everybody, as tempoyak can be an acquired taste. However, she's got loads of other dishes available as 'nasi berlauk' i.e. ready cooked dishes you could select yourself. She gets her patin fish from the Pahang River in Temerloh, so it is always super fresh with sweet tender flesh. She's got other seafood available too, along with chicken, beef (the beef in dark sauce is good) and a number of veggies including 'ulam' (raw veggies). To top everything, Kak Nik herself is really a wonderfully friendly and warm personality who welcomes anyone from all walks of life. If you want a taste of the Malay food experience, test it out for - if you're a tempoyak fan! And incidentally - the prices certainly are a steal!
