One of my favorites for Japanese cuisine in Bangsar South. Right in Center of eateries around in Nexus. You do not want to miss this place. Fresh Salmon Sashimi no complaints on that, I just wanted to try Salmon at this place and I must say they didn't disappoint me. If you are Salmon and tuna fan plus the Sushi nigiri then this is the place, The other dishes were decent enough to try, chicken was good too. Ambiance looks decent enough, good food but only drawback I found is the air con. It was one of the turn offs, hope they fix that soon. Oh one more thing, I guess not the place for Oysters, they do not have Oysters specially the fresh ones, they have the cooked ones. Overall, a good place to have a nice dinnner. I must say Time well spent. Cheerz

Excellent food and Sake, and wonderful service, which is not that common in Kl for some reason! Very highly recommended if you're in Bangsar South.

Terrible service, as the staff does not know how to handle big crowds. Had a company dinner here with 80 pax, and was informed that there were insufficient chairs.Assistant Manager by the name of Sook Yee was extremely rude and kept interrupting when I tried to talk to her, insisting that we only reserved seating for 79 pax (does 1 pax really make that much of a difference?) and that we were not allowed to use one of the bigger tables - because they were reserved for walk in customers. Instead, they forced our large group to break up into smaller tables (which by the end of our session, not a single walk in guest came in to sit at the big table). When I was trying to explain to her to logic of allowing us of a bigger group to sit at the table of about 8-10 pax, she kept interrupting to say, "No! You only booked for 79!". When she finally ran out of steam, I asked, "Ok, can I talk now?" believe it or not, she said, "NO!" and then she continued about how we only booked for 79 pax. Needless to say I figured at that point that she was not listening to me at all.Sook Yee sets an extremely bad example for her staff, which I am very happy to say were much friendlier and very helpful. Terrible Assistant Manager.Food-wise, it’s merely passable. I had the Gyu Saikoro Steak Set - Pan fried beef & assorted vegetables with teppanyaki style, the vegetables were extremely cold (like they had it under the air-cond for a while) and the beef was extremely hard and grainy. Poor quality. Would go back to Tenmaya anytime (the other Japanese cuisine restaurant in Bangsar South), or if I’m willing to drive out, to look for a Rakuzen. Seriously poor quality and value at Edo Ichi. Never coming back here.

Whilst I love the cuisine, I did not expect to stay in KL and spend the first two nights eating Japanese! As from my previous restaurant review in KL, I found myself gravitating to Japanese because I love the freshness and the variety and it's a bit of an easy option when tired after a long day at work! To boot, it's actually not easy to find a decent Malaysian restaurant in this part of the city. I'm sure someone would tell me that a few streets back there is something and I look forward to finding that out for future visits.Again I opted for the bento box, if the restaurant is genuine Japanese and not just sushi and attempted tempura then it's a great way to sample what they have. I was not disappointed with Edo Ichi. The food was fresh and the miso soup and the savoury custard were flavoursome. The food arrived quickly and it rapid succession without all being dumped on the table at once. The tempura was light, the beef was tender and well cooked. The sashimi was a little clumsy in how it was sliced, especially when compared to their upstairs competition. Nothing to complain about, it just did not have the finesse that such a simple dish requires. The difference between the two restaurants? Edo Ichi is on the ground floor so obviously attracts more diners passing by and that meant that the atmosphere was a lot better than the previous nights dining upstairs. However the food upstairs is just that slight bit better, a little more refined and it just felt slightly more traditional. Interestingly, the cost for the bento and a couple of beers was exactly MYR1.50 difference so there's nothing really there to separate the two restaurants.

We decided to explore Bangsar South for our New Year’s celebration and we stumbled upon Edo Ichi. We decided to give it a try without much expectations. We did not know that we were bound to say: “I do” to the goodness on their plates. Our little one called it dibs when he tasted Edo Ichi’s grilled salmon. The juicy, pinkish, and tender texture of the salmon were absolutely notable qualities of freshness.
Edo Ichi is located at G.04, Nexus, 7, Jalan Kerinchi, Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur 59200. This is a Japanese restaurant near the Nexus. This restaurant is very popular and has a good reputation. Many food bloggers also visit this restaurant to make mukbang.
