Good spot to enjoy regional porridge. Selection of : pork belly & little intestines in soya sauce, fried egg with chai poh, boiled egg, salted vegetable, boiled duck's meats and taufu. Basic and in quiet region. Shop is clean, provider is friendly and great. Youget an excellent but light meal. Walking length from Cititel Hotel with Penang Road.

This is my second visit to Penang and returned to the shop was essential in the itenary. I really like the ordinary braised soy sauce taste of the duck, classic chaipo egg, kiamchye, both not really salty at all. Proceeded to go late, taupok was sold-out!Nothing has changed inside the shop. Nostalgic environment, perfectly for the comfort plate of porridge.

I was looking for a geniune Teochew porridge store to get a simple decent lunch time. Reading other evaluations on TA, I proceeded to go there at 12.15pm. I purchased the staple bowls of braised duck, braised bean curd (tau kwa) and salted mustard leaves. Via aTeochew household and growing up consuming these and different other dishes in the home and in additional Teochew eateries outside, I had been amazed at that which was served right here. The braised duck slices had been sinewy and rubbery, with a level of unrendered fats and barely any meats. I just had one (1) little bit of good braised duck in the complete plate. Please make reference to the accompanying pictures to gauge on your own. The beancurds were new but tasted regular. "Lor"or the liquid for braising should contain light and darkish soy, superstar anise, cinnamon bark, etc. I really do not really detect a hint of the spices utilized, if at all; I did so make allowance for this being a commercial wall plug and profit being truly a high concern. The "lor" was only a watery darkish liquid for braising the elements. Their "lor" was said to be a family top secret but I guessed the next generation taking over will need to have forgotten the majority of the Magic formula! The salted mustard results in has been to its credit score, not overwhelmingly salty. Nevertheless, it tasted insipid and completely forgettable. Service at that time I was there is fast. The location is reasonably clear. I realise commercially ready food cannot matched home cooked foods, but this was way to avoid it of the ball recreation area. How much did that price? Rm 10.00. It's fair but I will not be using my Rm10.00 or any amount there again. It is a good thing I examined it out initial before bringing my close friends there.. what an embarrassment that might be. Btw, after lunch time I felt especially thirsty and got to down a bottle of drinking water.

A vintage establishment serving Teochew-style basic rice porridge with different side dishes such as for example soy-braised duck, pig parts, pickled vegetable, omelette with pickled radish, etc. Pricier than many porridge stall, but worthy of the price because of its flavor and meticulous preparing. Choose and purchase at thestall and it'll be offered to your desk in some time. Situated neae the junction between Muntri Road and Leith Road, the place could be crowded during lunch hr.
