A few days before Xmas we were exploring Jalan Burma in Pulau Tikus, the city centre outside Georgetown that's popular for excellent hawker-design food, when we discovered Li Er Cafe. The employees were extremely occupied packing appealing trays of nonya kueh*(cakes), I presume for Xmas parties since it was almost closing time. This is the Providing arm of the business enterprise in action. We bought a few of the nonya kueh to collect for a pre-Christmas deal with - plus they were delicious and attractive. I'll definitely return right here on my next stop by at Penang - Pulau Tikus will be where I was raised! * Peranakan or even Nyonya cuisine originates from the Peranakans, descendants of earlier Chinese migrants who settled inside Penang, Malacca, Singapore and Indonesia inter-marrying with nearby Malays and mixes Chinese, Malay along with other influences. The older Malay word nonya (furthermore spelled nyonya), a expression of regard and affection for females of prominent sociable standing (component "madame" and component "auntie"), has arrived at make reference to the cuisine of the Peranakans. After eating breakfast in the warm and humid Pulau Tikus market, we usually come here to cool off for a few nice nyonya kueh and tea/coffee. Selecting nyonya kueh is great so when we visited, these were preparing these very trays of assortednyonya kueh that i was nearly all tempted to create with me to KL should they can keep. On the tray had been these real searching mandarin orange paus and the dog owner was kind good enough to market me some to create back to KL. These were a hit within my earlier Chap Goh Meh celebration with numerous exclaiming they thought these were real fruit! There is a nice kaya completing them. Definitely a popular place to go to after Pulau Tikus marketplace.

We ordered a variety of delicious nyonya kuih for a celebration also it was nicely arranged on the bamboo tray. I specifically like the mochi, kuih lapis and kuih talam which are usually the best. Our guests love all of the colorful nyonya kuih aswell.Strongly suggested for parties and gathering.
