Midday lunch time and it's currently busy here. An extremely smiley waiter welcomes us in to the air-conditioning and shows us to a thoroughly clean table and instantly gets our beverages order. Swift shipping of menus shortly follows and I could already tell that restaurant is really a well-oiled machine. Great English from the waiters however the 3 things we order away from the menu are unavailable today. We order Poultry Chop, Sambal rice and Worcestershire Poultry. Delicious, delicious and tasty. Beautiful, clear flavours with genuine Nyonya spices. The crunchy, Worcestershire poultry and fluffy fried rice will be the highlights for me. I actually'll definitely revisit this eating place again - great program, delicious meals and reasonable prices.

When it just happened that both Yelper Tzeko M. and I am in Penang exactly the same weekend break, he volunteered to arrange a UYE for Yelpers in Penang. Many thanks Tzeko! Our party of 6 (which includes Yelpers John Q., Ping L. and her two cousins) were easily seated at a rectangle desk. The place is good sized and contains both smaller sized tables and big circular tables for bigger groupings or families. It was not so crowded when we have there been for lunch time on a Saturday though there have been big groups of households who came in soon after us. The service had been prompt and polite. The Peranakan dishes we'd were all excellent. assam prawns - like the tamarind flavor and sweetness of the prawns. (RM 20 for 6 pieces, we'd 2 plates of the) fish curry - an enormous portion with both seafood head and entire body. I really like how the okra aren't cooked together so that they are not a large mush though I love that version too. angmo tau yu fried poultry - it just methods worcestershire sauce when discussing angmo tau yu. I love the taste of the fried poultry. Juicy and and filled with flavor. Winged coffee beans - love the crunchiness of the winged coffee beans. poultry rendang - my least preferred as maybe I'm utilized to beef rendang. The bill found around RM 240 for 6 dishes and 6 drinks. I'm not sure if it's considered a little on the high aspect for locals but also for vacationers with a stronger foreign currency, it really is definitely very affordable. I love the way the names of the laundry are as spoken in Penang (in Malay, Hokkien and English) and they do not make an effort to anglicize it or utilize the English comparative. The description will undoubtedly be in English though therefore don’t worry about eating unusual sounding food. E.g. Kiam Chai Ark (salted vegetables duck soup) Assam Hae (mix fried tamarind prawns) Sambal Udang (sambal prawn with cucumber) Prawns inside 2 languages (hae inside Hokkien and udang inside Malay) This place is an excellent choice for an introduction to Peranakan food within an air-conditioned restaurant setting right in the financial center of Georgetown heritage area. It provides a respite from heat and yummy road food and is simple to get to invest the the free of charge CAT shuttle.

Very good old school eatery located at bishop street, penang within the heritage area. the cafe has been around the radar for a long time but i just managed to go to the past 7 days with fellow yelper - carolyn, john, ping and her two cousins. We ordered the fare talk about of items from the menu in order that we could attempt the majority of their bestsellers, from assam (tamarind) prawns, assam curry seafood, winged bean salad, poultry rendang and fried poultry. and we're ready for an excellent meal! the assam prawns were amazing, we ordered two servings while curry fish (pomfret) gets the sour-ish taste however, not spicy enough, i believe. both had been stellar and would suggest highly. They carry out take reservation so please be sure you book before coming to avoid disappointment. six meals + 6 part of rice + 6 beverages = RM239, arises to RM40 per pax. Great deal!
