Fill that rumbly in your tummy with max happiness and favourite local dishes cooked up by Chef Shah herself!
Another day, another fantastic afternoon of good food for the YummyAdvisor team to sample! This week, we’ve paid a visit to Setia Alam’s one and only Chef Shah Kitchen where we helped ourselves to Chef Shah’s amazing and comforting home cooking of our favourite Malaysian dishes!
And boy, did Chef Shah make us feel at home! The nasi daging salai lemak cili padi is a generous helping of rice with fried shallots sprinkled on top and half a salted egg, accompanied with tender smoked beef slices soaked in a spicy tangy gravy. Additionally, a small dollop of Indonesian-style sambal gesek on the side will give you an extra kick of spice that you will crave for! One member pointed out it’s almost like Thai green curry, but extra spicy!
The mee rojak is a mountain of noodles topped off with a beautiful mess of sweet gravy, fried dough and tofu, shredded cucumber and radish, and a whole hard-boiled egg. For the rojak connoisseurs who dream of sotong, you won’t find any here. However, an option for chicken is also available for that extra bite of saltiness. All you have to do is just ask, and ye shall receive (for an extra premium)!
If you’re hankering for some western options instead, the fan-favourite chicken chop and lamb chop are also some great western-style options. In our case, we think the fish and chips may very well be the dish you need! A simple plate with two large, battered and perfectly fried fish fillets that is crunchy on the outside and soft, fluffy and filling on the inside, some salad, and French fries topped with their special spicy take on thousand island sauce!
And to wash it all down, we were presented with a tall glass (yes, glass!) of the definitive Malaysian desert: Cendol! Each and every sip we take is perfectly sweetened with a careful ration of coconut milk and gula Melaka palm sugar, accompanied with red beans, corn and green rice flour jelly for a burst of interesting and complex textures and flavours that blends together well with the sweetness of the sugar and richness of the milk.
With such a humble, warm and bright establishment right here in the middle of Setia Alam, you can definitely expect some warm smiles and a hearty meal that will keep you full and satisfied for the rest of the day like the YummyAdvisor team did. Courtesy of Chef Shah Kitchen!
