Win or lose, it’s all a part of the game!
Last Friday, the YummyAdvisor team were excited about this particular merchant that we were going to visit which was the ATO Gaming Cafe located at TTDI! Why were we excited, you might ask? It’s because this cafe is quite unique as it provides PS5, PS4 Pro, Switch, and many more for you to play away! Aside from that, our eyes were also blessed with the interior design of this cafe due to the usage of orange brick walls; stimulating customers to sit back and relax during their visit here. But what about the kind of food that they serve here? Let’s take a look, shall we?
Hot Latte & Iced Latte
Firstly, the team were served with a latte for the beverages, one cup contains a hot latte while another was served cold. The cup of hot latte was decorated with a thick layer of heart-shaped latte art on top. Once you’ve slurped through the latte art, you’ll get a taste of the earthy beverage. The same can be said for the cup of iced latte.
Sparkling Lemonade
Next up is a beverage that was claimed to be a favourite of the customers which is the sparkling lemonade. Now, this is a carbonated drink, which is one of the appropriate drinks to order if you want to feel refreshed after spending quite some time under the blaze of the sun. It is also one of the drinks that you can order if you’d like to cleanse your palate after eating as the taste of the drink is not too sweet nor too sour in order for it to overwhelm your tastebuds.
Cookies N’ Cream Ice Blended
Another favourite drink amongst the customers that have visited ATO Gaming Cafe is their Cookies N’ Cream Ice Blended! One look at the beverage, and you’ll agree that it is served beautifully, especially as it is decorated with heavy whipping cream with a swirl of chocolate syrup and cookie crumbles sprinkled on top. But because this is an ice-blended beverage, we didn’t want it to melt and eventually ruin the taste therefore, this beverage is one of the first things we tried. Personally, if I could describe the drink in one sentence, it would be: an Oreo McFlurry but in an ice-blended version.
Chicken Chop
Moving on to the dishes that were served by ATO Gaming Cafe, firstly, we have their Chicken Chop! Obviously, before digging into the chicken, you’ve got to have a bite of their fries first! The fries were soft and warm (given the fact that we left the dish to cool off a bit while we were shooting for photos and videos), which is some of the criteria that I, personally, look for in fries! Dipped in their black pepper sauce, you can tell that its texture is light and carries a strong pepper taste. Save the best for last, which is the chicken itself. Firstly, the chicken was easy to cut through, already giving us the impression that the insides of the chicken were tender. Aside from its softness, it is also juicy when being chewed; with its slightly crispy outer texture and ripe insides, the chicken chop is definitely a pleasant experience to consume.
Nasi Ayam Rendang
Secondly, is the Nasi Ayam Rendang presented with the rice placed in the middle of the plate, four slices of cucumber, half of a hard-boiled egg, roasted nuts and fried anchovies, a spoonful of sambal and a piece of chicken with rendang gravy. Just like the chicken chop, it was easy to cut through the chicken as well. A mouthful of the rice and the chicken with its rendang gravy, you’ll get a pleasant taste of sweetness due to the rendang gravy. As a Malay who’s had rendang every year during Aidilfitri, I can say that ATO’s version of rendang is not far off from a Malay-cooked rendang!
Nasi Kerabu Ayam Berempah
The next dish surprised us when it was being served, which was the Nasi Kerabu Ayam Berempah. Initially, we didn’t expect to get nasi kerabu at this merchant but nevertheless, we were happy to know the variety of food this merchant carries. This colourful plate consists of blue, kerabu rice placed in the middle of the plate, four slices of cucumber, half a slice of half-boiled egg, roasted nuts and fried anchovies, slices of red onion, a few pieces of fish crackers, a piece of ayam goreng berempah, and a spoonful of budu; which is a must when eating nasi kerabu. Since the chicken is fried, it makes sense for the chicken to be crunchy however the insides were tender and easy to chew. The spicy level of the budu was tolerable; therefore, people who cannot tolerate spiciness well can definitely give this dish a try. Upon talking with one of the cafe’s managers, we found out that the rice was cooked with dried butterfly pea flowers in order to give the rice a blue colour and some scent.
Hawaiian Pizza
Lastly, ATO Gaming Cafe prepared a classic pizza plate of Hawaiian Pizza! From the name itself, a classic Hawaiian Pizza entails pizza sauce, cheese, meat, and pineapple (don’t worry for those who aren’t a fan of pineapples on pizzas, you can simply pluck them off). Upon the first bite of the pizza, you can feel the softness of the dough used to bake this Italian cuisine. Based on my personal judgement, I could say that it has the same thickness as a Pizza Hut’s pizza slice, only that it is not as juicy. Maybe due to the time that we took to shoot photos and videos, the pizza has become a bit cold therefore the fault could be on our part for the dryness of the pizza. But give the pizza a shot yourself! Maybe you’d find yourself falling in love with it.
At the end of the day, the YummyAdvisor team certainly enjoyed our time there. While waiting for the food to be served, we spent the time playing some of the games that were already on display. If you’re looking to spend some bonding time with your friends, free up your time and give ATO Gaming Cafe a visit!
