Dapur Cik Yah, A Thailand-Cuisine Restaurant That’s Different Than The Rest!

Why have what everybody’s having when you can have something unique?
From Cheras all the way to Shah Alam, we have visited a Thailand cuisine restaurant named Dapur Cik Yah! Sure the journey was long, but the YummyAdvisor team skipped lunch just so that we could fulfil our hunger at this restaurant. Upon arriving, we talked to one of the workers here, and we were told that the dished that will be served were ones that we most probably had never tried before. So let’s see what the unique eatables were!
Ikan Siakap Sambal Hijau
The main attraction for today’s eatery is the Ikan Siakap Sambal Hijau! Unlike what is usually ordered, which is the Ikan Siakap 3 Rasa, this dish is filled with greenery, especially as it is topped with tons of green chillies. Now seeing that might give you the impression that this dish will be spicy but fret not! It is actually not spicy at all and has a hint of sourness to it. The fish is cooked well as the outer texture is crunchy but has juicy insides.
Ayam Asam Jaya
Next up is a dish that we have never encountered before which was the Ayam Asam Jaya! The quantity of the cut-up meat may look like it’s only enough for one person, but don’t let its appearance fool you! This plate could actually feed at least three people! The meat that was covered in strong sweet and sour sauce is smooth and soft once you’re chewing it, with a tad bit of crunchiness from its outer texture. We were told that the recipe for Ayam Asam Jaya came straight from the motherland, which is, Thailand.
Telur Dadar Cik Yah
Moving on is Telur Dadar Cik Yah which is not the regular omelette you’re used to have. This omelette contains minced chicken and prawn in it, giving you that little twist to the regular omelette. Topped with a secret homemade sauce, the Telur Dadar Cik Yah will give you a mix of spice and sweetness. Spiciness level, 6/10. The egg chews smoothly in your mouth as the chicken and prawn have been minced finely therefore, it mixes well together.
Udang Krup Krap
Udang Krup Krap is the third dish that was served! An eye-catching name, isn’t it? Well, there’s a reason as to why the people behind Dapur Cik Yah has decided on the name. This prawn-based dish was fried with Nestum which gives the krup-krap sound you’ll make when you’re munching on the prawns. Due to the Nestum as well, you can taste some sweetness to it. However, do note that the cook did not peel off the prawn beforehand but don’t worry! You can eat it as it is as they are super soft.
This restaurant will definitely be one that I will remember and make it a goal to visit once more with family or friends due to its uniqueness. Of course, they also serve the usual, iconic Thailand-based cuisines but it’s always a great opportunity to try something new!
